We woke this morning before 7 am to a loud speaker and 800 swimmers in the grand stands preparing to swim to Alcatraz Island. We quickly brought up the anchor and motored out before they could hit the water. We had to dodge another group swimming across the bay, and after passing under the Golden Gate Bridge, found ourselves in the middle of a sailboat race. All this before 8 am! We’re now anchored in relatively peaceful Pillar Point with 3 other Canadian boats. Planning to head to Santa Cruz tomorrow morning.
Sounds like quite an adventure! It’s great that Cruise Port Village took care of the paperwork, making the arrival smoother.…
