We rode our bikes into Amsterdam on this drizzly morning, buy by 11:00 the drizzle had stopped, and we cycled around the inner city. It would have been interesting to go into Anne Frank House, but all the attractions were fully booked. We had lunch at a Dutch pancake restaurant where a 6,00€ chocolate milk shake was just that, a shaken chocolate milk. The potato pancake and savory pancake were excellent though.

After lunch we hopped on an open boat for a one hour canal cruise, it was very informative. We learned about the spice trade, and how the spices were moved and stored in Amsterdam. They were up front about the brutality of the “trade” referring to as more like stealing by today’s standards. We hadn’t previously noticed the beam with an eye in the peak of most houses. This was originally used to haul the spices to the top floor where they were stored.
