Beautiful shade. We loved the oaks along this stretch of path.

What an incredible ride today! After leaving Den Haag we headed out to the coast before turning more northwest to ride parallel to the beach through the dunes. As we wound back and forth and up and down the dunes along the bike path I find myself awe struck by this beautiful and fragile environment. The sand is held together only by the vegetation that grows here. If the vegetation is disturbed, the dunes will be ruined. Barbed wire fences on either side of the path are in place to discourage off path exploration.

Pictures absolutely do not do it justice!

This ride or walk should be on any nature lovers to-do list while visiting Holland. There is plenty of commercial tourism here, so it shouldn’t be a problem renting a bike if you want to do the ride. Just be sure to keep your wits about you. Between the e-bikes and racers, the pace can be a bit hectic at times.

Swimming beach on the lake next to the campground.

  • Since it’s not the weekend, it has a quiet little tent area with the washrooms close by. Perhaps full on the weekend.
