Le Doube

Riding mostly along Le Doubs again today, this stretch of the EuroVelo 6 is beautiful. The weirs and corresponding locks are spaced regularly here, so we must be going up, but it doesn’t feel like it.

Weir and lock.

We aren’t finding many cafes right on the EuroVelo this trip. On instinct we diverted into the small town of Deluz in search of coffee, and came across a bar that had coffee, pain au chocolate, and croissants.

Small farm on Le Doubs.

A cafeteria that made sandwiches was well timed in Baume les Dames. There would have been nowhere to get food before our destination here in Pays de Clerval. We did take away and had a picnic by the river as we watched the rock climbers on the cliffs on the other side.

The farm section.

For a short bit we left the river and climbed up onto some rolling farm land, so there was a bit of a challenging section. As always, every up means a downhill.

Excellent bike path along Le Doubs.

We are camped right on a branch of Le Doubs in the municipal campground. 9,40€ for the night.
