Today we had the first real rain since leaving Paris. We have been so spoiled!
We were just thinking about stopping for lunch in Gemert when we started to feel a few drops. What is that strange sensation, cold little pin pricks on my skin.
There was a row of restaurants with big umbrellas, so we chose one and put the rain covers on our leather saddles. During the hour it took to eat lunch everything got wet, and then dried. We watch all this from the safety of our giant bumbershoot.

After about 40 kilometers of riding we joined up with LF13, one of the major cycling routes in the Netherlands. We still haven’t figured out the numbering system for the routes yet. It was nice to be riding along a canal again! The Dutch major cycling routes are like highways, smooth and wide. Such a beautiful ride.

We had thought that we might stop at one of the mini campsites on a farm at about 40 kilometers, but we were both feeling good and we didn’t want to waste the slight tailwind, so we carried on.
Our chosen campground for the night, Camping de Bocht didn’t show up on Komoot, so I set a rough location placeholder to get us to the general area.
When we arrived at the placeholder location in Oirshot there was a big party going on with loud live music, and hords of people drinking beer. Lots of fun for sure, but not a great place to camp! Ahh, but thankfully it’s just a placeholder, the real campground is 1.5 kilometers out of town and much quieter.
